From FX-MAX.com comes FX Freeze (Windows only), designed to alleviate CPU, RAM and polyphony shortages when working with VST plug-ins. Features include a Freeze option to free-up CPU resources, an Ultra-Freeze option to free CPU and RAM resources, and selective freezing of MIDI channels.

Special programs called FX Freeze wrappers are installed into the user’s VST plug-ins folder. In the plug-in window, an additional line with two flake icons will appear. To freeze a plug-in, click on the flake icon, play the desired portion of a song and all of the plug-in outputs will be bounced to disk. During the following work, the frozen plug-in will stream from disk and the DSP part of frozen plug-in will be bypassed. In Ultra-Freeze mode, both the plug-in and its libraries also will be unloaded from RAM. The resources previously taken by the plug-in are ready to be used for any further processing. All frozen plug-ins are saved within a song.

Other features include VST-compatible instrument and FX support; VST 2-compatible host support; and SONAR support for VSTi (via VST DX Adapter). System requirements include Windows 98/ME/2000/XP, VST 2-compatible host (Cubase, Logic, etc.), VST instruments or FX, 300MHz CPU, 64 MB of RAM, 2MB hard drive and space for frozen audio data.
