Peavey Electronics Corporation founder Hartley Peavey donned a shovel to celebrate the ground-breaking of the new Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Biloxi, Miss. In fact, Peavey Electronics designed the ceremonial shovels specifically for the event using the necks and headstocks of Peavey bass guitars.

Among the 20-odd statewide dignitaries and celebrities in attendance were Chris Henderson and Todd Harrell of Mississippi-based multi-Platinum rock band 3 Doors Down. Bandmate Matt Roberts, who was unable to attend, endorses Peavey 5150 AE and Triple XXX AE guitar amplifiers, both of which backed up the event's live entertainment. The entire event ran through a Peavey sound system.

The $235 million Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Biloxi will include an 11-story, 306-room hotel, a Hard Rock Cafe, Hard Rock Casino and Hard Rock Live performance venue that will feature national touring shows and local music artists.
