HHB's PortaDrive Location Sound Recorder has been updated with a new USB2.0/FireWire docking station that accepts the PortaDrive’s removable HD caddy via a slot in the front panel to deliver lightning-fast file transfer with Mac- and PC-based post-production systems.

The PDRDSUF docking station features a universal power supply and comes with both USB and FireWire cables to connect to a DAW. The unit records eight channels of uncompressed 24-bit/96kHz digital audio in AES-31 ADL Broadcast .WAV or Pro Tools Version 5 formats to a rugged, removable hard disk. Other features include three on-board digital mixers, simultaneous recording of rushes to an external drive, high-quality mic preamps with phantom power, comprehensive timecode facilities and advanced power management.

Commenting on the launch of the PDRDSUF, HHB technical development manager, Paul Isaacs, said, "The new USB 2.0/FireWire docking station is an extremely effective post-production device that really optimizes workflow efficiency from location recording through the post-production process. What's more, the low price will ensure its widespread adoption by post-production facilities large and small."

The HHB PDRDSUF USB2.0/FireWire docking station is available now for a MSRP of $349. For more information, visit HHB’s distributor, Sennheiser, at www.sennheiserusa.com. For more new sound reinforcement products, visit mixonline.com/live_sound_products/index.htm.
