Lake Technology Limited has announced the immediate availability of the Lake Contour™ Pro26D, a new version of the company's digital loudspeaker processor that incorporates a stereo AES/EBU digital input and output as standard. The fully digital signal path of this latest Lake Contour model offers improved overall audio system quality through the elimination of an unnecessary DA/AD conversion at the console.

Supporting sample rates from 44.1 kHz to 96 kHz at 24-bit resolution, the digital input and output of the Lake Contour Pro26D is enabled through the Lake Controller software's new Stereo Insert program, and is available for all existing module programs. An Input Auto-Select function provides signal redundancy. If the digital locked signal is interrupted or lost, Lake Contour instantly switches from digital to analog to maintain a continuous signal.

The 2-input, 6-output Lake Contour and new Lake Contour Pro26D incorporate a set of DSP-based equalization and processing tools, including crossovers, dynamics and delays. Additionally, the it may be utilized as a high-quality EQ, delay and dynamics channel processor when inserted into any full bandwidth digital or analog audio path.

Justin Baird, Contour product manager, said, "Keeping the audio signal in the digital domain ensures optimum sonic quality all the way through the speaker processing stage. In combination with the growing number of digital live sound mixing consoles, Lake Contour Pro26D offers a noticeable improvement in audio quality by eliminating an entire stage of D-to-A and A-to-D conversion. Our clients have been surprised at just how much the converters in their consoles actually color the sound, and are impressed with how great their systems sound by maintaining a fully digital path through Lake Contour Pro26D to the last possible link in the signal chain."
