As the new president of the NAB Education Foundation, Marcellus Alexander will oversee the expanded foundation’s services, including the annual Service to America summit held each June in Washington, D.C.; he will remain executive VP of television at NAB.

“It’s great to have someone as talented as Marcellus Alexander step in and continue molding NABEF into a major force in the industry,” said NAB president and CEO Edward O. Fritts. “We believe Marcellus is just the person to take the NAB Education Foundation to the next level.”

The foundation’s mission includes expanding diversity at key levels in broadcasting through training programs from entry-level careers through station ownership; enhancing the quality of news production; and recognizing radio and television’s extraordinary community service and stimulating new idea for the future. In addition, NABEF will merge its operations with NAB’s human resource development office and career center.

“I look forward to working with the Foundation board, committee and staff to build on NABEF’s success,” Alexander commented. “Chuck Sherman [who Alexander is replaced as Sherman is retiring] has established a strong legacy, particularly with respect to programs that serve women and people of color. Similarly, Dwight Ellis, VP of human resources development, has created an equally solid foundation of programs that address broadcasters’ career needs. It makes perfect sense to coordinate the efforts of both these offices to better serve our members and constituencies.”
