On October 22, the San Francisco Chapter of the Recording Academy hosted an open forum discussion with producer/engineer Ed Cherney (Bonnie Raitt, Bob Dylan, Bob Seger, Neil Diamond), who shared engineering techniques and tips with a crowd of producers, engineers and other members of the local music community.

Mastering engineer and chapter governor Paul Stubblebine moderated the talk, which was held at the Plant in Sausalito, Cal. Cherney, who recently completed the forthcoming Rolling Stones 4 Flicks live DVD set, also discussed the pros and cons of 5.1 mixing, and his views on DSD and DVD-A. A tour of the Plant, along with a brief 4 Flicks listening/viewing session, followed the talk.
