This Month in Mix

Neutrik recently featured the Speakon SPX Series, the next generation of the amplifier/speaker connector, at Winter NAMM 2003. Offering the same reliability of the NL4FC, while offering increased power handling, connection security and flexibility, the NL4FX Series is intended to replace its popular predecessor over the next few years.

The new NL4FX Series connector delivers 50 amps RMS; it is capable of carrying the current load from amplifiers of more than 1,000 watts and is not to be used as a "mains" power connector. Another unique design element is that electrical contact is made only after the NL4FX is completely inserted and locked, preventing arcing when disconnected under load.

The one-piece internal chuck accepts cables with outer diameters of 6 to 14 mm (0.24 inches to 0.55 inches). A right-angle version NL4FRX will also be available. Customers can convert an NL4FX to an NL4FRX via an LRX conversion kit. Termination is via screw terminals or by soldering. The inserts accept stranded 6mm/10-AWG wire. Once the connector is assembled, the NL4FX features the same twist-locking system on the current NL4FC.

The NL4FX can be ordered with boots in any of five colors (black, red, yellow, green and white). The right-angle NL4FRX has the same color-coding options by use of a colored collar. Additionally, the NL4FX is compatible with all the current NL4M receptacles and the new NL4MMX adapter.
