NEUTRIK will feature the Speakon SPX Series, the next generation of amplifier/speaker connectors, at Winter NAMM 2003, Booth 6220. The unit offers increased power handling, connection security and flexibility. The NL4FX Series is intended to replace its popular predecessor over the next few years.

The new NL4FX Series connector delivers 50-amp RMS continuous current on all contacts for audio applications. This means that the connector is capable of carrying the current load from amplifiers of more than 1,000 watts that are used in professional sound and monitoring systems and is not to be used as a "mains" power connector. Another design element is that electrical contact is made only after the NL4FX is completely inserted and locked, preventing arcing when disconnected under load.

The new cable connector consists of only three parts, and the one-piece internal chuck accepts cables with outer diameters of 6 to 14 mm (0.24 inches to 0.55 inches). A right-angle version NL4FRX will also be available, which addresses connections in tight spaces without lengthy re-wiring or carrying multiple wires with different connector ends. Customers can convert an NL4FX to an NL4FRX via a LRX conversion kit; users can make an NL4FX into an NL4FRX without disconnecting the existing NL4FX or having to do any additional wiring or soldering.

"We are confident that the NL4FX, NL4FRX and the NL4MMX adapter will further strengthen our position in the market place and will open new business opportunities," said Jim Cowan, president of Neutrik USA.
