Oxnard, Calif.-based Rat Sound Systems supplied gear for Rock for Choice at the Hollywood Palladium. Rock for Choice, founded by punk rock band L7, uses rock musicians to educate young men and women nationwide about registering to vote and taking action to protect fundamental freedoms. This show’s lineup included Lisa Loeb, Ben Harper (pictured), Melissa Etheridge and Sheryl Crow.

All acoustic, the show was low volume but filled with dynamic and crisp vocals through the Rat Sound-provided P.A. Rat employed its Rat trap 5 system hung in a 3x3 configuration and complemented by 12 Rat dual 18-inch subwoofers. The system was controlled by a new Klark Teknik DN9848 digital system processor, which provided EQ, crossover, time alignment and limiting in a 4-in/8-out package. Front of house was rounded out by a Midas XL4 console with processing by Drawmer, BSS, Yamaha, Eventide and TC Electronic.

Monitor duties were handled by Rat MicroWedges 12s and a Midas Heritage 3000 consoles, in addition to BSS outboard gear, Shure PSM700 and in-ears.
