RME presented the ADI-2, a compact (9.5-inch unit) and flexible 2-channel high-end AD/DA converter that converts from/to S/PDIF, AES and ADAT at up to 192 kHz.

Key features include balanced inputs and outputs, monitoring via headphone out, SteadyClock (a proprietary clock technology for maximum jitter suppression) for optimal converter quality, three-stage hardware input and output level control, and can be run on a wide range of power supplies.

The ADI-2 is equipped with a balanced stereo line input via two Neutrik XLR/phones combo jacks, a balanced stereo line output with XLR, separate and simultaneously active phone jacks, and an adjustable headphone output.

The analog inputs and outputs use the same circuit design as RME's ADI-8. Three different settings for the input and output levels each provide compatibility in the analog domain. In the digital world its transformer-balanced coaxial (RCA) S/PDIF I/O has switchable channel status to make it fully AES/EBU-compatible. The optical Toslink I/Os can handle up to 192 kHz and also serve as ADAT I/Os with up to 96kHz sample rate. Users can employ S/PDIF input and ADAT output or vice versa in AD/DA mode.

Other features include front panel functional buttons, informative status displays, a six LED level meter, protective rack handles and a strain-relief for power cord and audio cables.
