Dave Rat was last seen at FOH on the Red Hot Chili Peppers tour. Here, he talks about a piece of gear that he can't do without.
“For me, its critical to have a visual reference [my Sound Technology RTA4000] to either agree—or disagree—with my ears,” said Rat, who also supplies systems for the band’s tours through his company, Rat Sound (www.ratsound.com). “Between the RTA4000, listening to the house and my Sony MDR-CD3000 headphones, I’m set. Sometimes, I even route a CD to my 'phones during the show to check my ears; if they sound dull, then I know my ears are screwed.”
