Education Guide

Mix is gearing up to present its longstanding annual Audio Education Guide in its November 2014 issue. Want to have your school listed in the directory, or do you need to update your current directory listing? Add an image, program description, or a logo to your listing! Get your school in the Mix Education Guide 2014.

BIAS Peak 4 offers many new features and enhancements, including support for Audio Units, a sample-based reverb technology called ImpulseVerb, multiprocessor support, Redbook CD burning from within Peak, a host of new DSP tools, a mastering-quality compressor/limiter called Sqweez and many others.

In addition, Peak 4's graphic user interface has been streamlined, and sports a new elegant brushed metal look, and the program is now a Mac OS X-only application. (For OS 9 users, BIAS includes an optional Peak 3.5 OS 9 installer on the CD.)

The elements of the Contents Window, which stores a library of markers, loops and regions associated with all open audio files, are now accessible within each audio document, offering an ergonomic alternative to the Contents Window. Specific libraries can now be accessed from an audio document drawer that can either be open or closed. Names and locations of markers, loops and regions from within the drawer will automatically update in the audio document when edited inside the drawer. Additionally, the playback head insertion point can be initiated from within the drawer. The drawer also includes live cursor-location information, which users can opt to appear in a transparent cursor overlay. The contents of the Cursor Palette window have also been relocated. Cursor mode buttons such as the Selection Tool, Magnifying Glass and Pencil Tool are now ergonomically located in the top-right-hand side of the audio document window. Finally the Overview window can conveniently be shown or hidden via a disclosure triangle, and the audio document window itself features live resizing.

Peak 4.0 is available now with a SRP of U.S. $499. Upgrades to Peak 4 are $149 from previous versions of Peak. Customers who purchased Peak/Peak LE/Peak DV 3 after April 1, 2003, may be entitled to a free upgrade.
