Solid State Logic introduced the Version 1.5 software upgrade for its C100 Digital Broadcast Console. Two new security features enhance the operation of the console and provide the robust system redundancy necessary in live broadcast operations.

A new DSP redundancy system adds to the C100’s unique self-healing DSP capabilities to provide a comprehensive security solution. Broadcast security is further enhanced by the C100’s unique control-surface management, which provides operational security for the most vulnerable part of any broadcast console. Using a simple graphical interface, the operator is able to reconfigure the control surface without audio interruption.

A new remote-bay option allows the console processing to be split across two control surfaces, providing additional flexibility in situations with restricted space, or where two distinct control sections are required. Enhanced networking and integration capabilities, including third-party router integration, allow information interchange between an external router and the console’s built-in digital router.

“The C100 was designed to meet the needs of today’s broadcaster as the industry pushes to all-digital,” commented SSL director of product marketing, Niall Feldman. “We have added a user-defined redundancy option for the DSP cards in the CPU core and a redundancy option for the surface of the console, as well. Both features give the broadcaster fail-safe operation capabilities, particularly critical for live applications.”
