Steinberg Media Technologies announced a new integrated music production system: the Cubase System|4, which marries Cubase SL 2.0 (pictured, top) with the company's new MI4 media interface (pictured, bottom). The Cubase System|4 is the first in a series of products in the new Steinberg Media Solutions range.

Cubase SL 2.0 offers Steinberg's latest VST 2.3 audio engine with full latency compensation, a customizable mixer featuring FX return channels, professional automation and a range of VST effects/instruments.

The new MI4 USB audio/MIDI hardware offers four inputs/outputs, hi-Z instrument input, quality mic preamps with selectable 48-volt phantom power, 16-channel MIDI interface, S/PDIF digital I/O, effects inserts and more.

According to Arnd Kaiser, Steinberg's senior product manager, music technology, "On top of the pristine audio quality with recording at up to 24-bit, 96 kHz and mixing at up to 32-bit floating point comes the outstanding versatility of this product. Not only is it an ideal desktop recording and mixing package, but when running with a laptop computer, provides an excellent mobile recording solution."

Other new products in the new Media Solutions range include Cubase System|2 (which will feature MI2, a 2-in/2-out USB interfaces that uses the same components as the MI4 interface) and Cubase System|10 (which will feature a state-of-the-art FireWire-based 10-in/10-out interface).
