New York City-based Sterling Sound has hired Leon Zervos as senior mastering engineer; Zervos was recently a senior mastering engineer at New York City's Masterdisk.

Zervos began his career in 1982 at EMI Studios in Sydney. By the late 1980s, he had established himself as a top engineer in Australia, mastering hits for artists such as INXS, Crowded House and Midnight Oil. In 1993, Zervos moved to New York City, where worked on such records as Aerosmith's Nine Lives, Avril Lavigne's Let Go, Maroon 5's Songs About Jane and N'Sync's self-titled album. He also mastered numerous surround projects, including Alanis Morissette's Feast on Scraps, Santana's Supernatural and Shaman, and Willie Nelson's Live in Amsterdam.

"Leon has that unique gift of great mastering engineers—the ability to intuit what a client wants to achieve sonically—and the talent and technical expertise to deliver it," said Sterling Sound's president Murat Aktar. "He is also extremely versatile, with Platinum-selling credits in rock, R&B, hip hop, dance, pop, orchestral and Latin."

"The name Sterling Sound is synonymous with mastering excellence," commented Zervos. "When it comes to studios, innovative audio developments and work philosophies, Sterling Sound is not only state-of-the-art, but state-of-the-future."

Zervos will be available for mastering sessions beginning January 15, 2004. For booking info, contact Caryl McGowan at 212/604-9433 or e-mail
