The Mix Foundation for Excellence in Audio has announced the winners for the 17th Annual Technical Excellence & Creativity Awards, held at the New York Marriott Marquis, Saturday, December 1.

Hosting the ceremony ("for the fourth or fifth time--I don't remember which") was popular comedian and Vatican correspondent Father Guido Sarducci. He was joined on stage by an array of famous figures from the world of music and recording, including renowned engineer/producer Phil Ramone, who inducted the legendary engineer Roy Halee into the TEC Hall of Fame; and musical icon Les Paul and guitar virtuoso Larry Carlton, who co-presented the Les Paul Award to Steely Dan (Walter Becker and Donald Fagen.)

Presenting TEC Awards in 23 categories of Technical and Creative Achievement were engineer/producers George Massenburg and Elliot Scheiner; producer Tony Maserati; sound designer/engineers Abe Jacob and John Kilgore; studio executives Simon Andrews and Zoe Thrall; guitarist Carlos Alomar and audio manufacturer Eveanna Manley.

Proceeds of the TEC Awards are donated to hearing conservation programs of the House Ear Institute and H.E.A.R., as well as to scholarship programs in the audio arts and sciences.
