The National Awards Committee has approved two new awards in the category of Advanced Media Technology to be included in the National Television Academy Science & Technology Awards. The Advanced Media Technology Emmys will honor excellence in Interactive Television and New Media content and applications.

The Outstanding Achievement in Advanced Media Technology for the Enhancement of Original Television Content award will recognize work in areas of advanced-media technology that enhance or improve programming intended for delivery and display by traditional broadcast means, including network, cable and satellite distribution. Advanced-media technology for the programming enhancements mean technology or programming that was developed or implemented for nonlinear or linear use or delivery, including, but not limited to television, Internet, computers, videogame or other user interfaces.

The Outstanding Achievement in Advanced Media Technology for the Creation of Non-Traditional Programs or Platforms award recognizes a work developed for delivery and display by no-traditional and/or nonlinear programming, including systems, EPGs, user interfaces, one-screen or two-screen applications, CD-ROM, DVD, computer and video games with broadcast components, etc. Entries (there is an entry fee of $200) must be received by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences no later than August 11, 2003.
