Audiofile Engineering in Minneapolis introduces FiRe 2, a new version of its field recording application that offers new features for the latest iOS devices from Apple. FiRe displays an accurate audio waveform in real time, supports markers and Broadcast WAV metadata, allows users to download files in multiple file formats, and offers native SoundCloud integration.

FiRe 2 incorporates additional new features, including an advanced editing suite with SmartEdits, Bezier fades, change gain, normalize, looping playback, regions and more; an improved Transport screen with a larger waveform view that draws more quickly and smoothly; EQ and dynamics effects developed by Audiofile Engineering; iTunes file transfer; enhanced input processing powered by iZotope; the option of recording in background; and Dropbox integration.

FiRe 2 requires iOS 4.2 on an iPhone 3GS/4, third- or fourth-generation iPod touch, iPad, or iPad 2. This app is available through iTunes for $5.99. Audiofile Engineering states that FiRe 1.5 is still available for older iOS devices.
