At NAB 2009 in Las Vegas, Digigram is showcasing LoLa, a state-of-the-art low latency soundcard platform for logging and multichannel recording.

The first product in the LoLa Series, the LoLa280, includes eight line-level inputs, two line-level outputs and an optional 8-channel microphone preamp in a 1U rackmount package. The soundcard is Digigram’s first in a low-profile PCI Express bus form factor. It also includes a built-in mixer with automatic gain control (AGC) and a software control panel, allowing inputs to be summed prior to recording and to directly monitor inputs. This feature is important for applications such as courtroom and evidence recording, where several microphone inputs need pre-mixing prior to being assigned to record channels and where confidence monitoring is a must.

“Legal, surveillance and broadcast logging applications have never had an audio platform designed specifically with their requirements until now," explains Digigram president and CEO Philippe Delacroix. "The LoLa platform will give our development partners—especially those whose business is monitoring, archiving or security—a fantastic new enabling technology.”

LoLa supports standard audio device drivers including DirectSound WDM and ASIO. Digigram states that the card will be available by late April 2009, and that it will develop and release several soundcards on the new platform.
