Grund Audio Design in Council Bluffs, Iowa, is introducing its STP-8/STP-5S loudspeaker combination. The loudspeakers will be sold individually or as a system ($2,199 MSRP for the package).

As a loudspeaker pair comprising a pole-mounted "top box" and a subwoofer, the new STP-8/STP-5S form a compact, portable sound reinforcement solution for both music and general sound reinforcement applications, suitable for DJs, bands, houses of worship, and other applications in which the ability to quickly and easily set up a robust sound system is essential.

Designed to be pole mounted over the STP-5S subwoofer, the Grund Audio Design STP-8 loudspeaker ($299 MSRP when sold individually) uses an 8-inch low frequency (LF) transducer that is mated with a 1-inch high frequency (HF) compression driver to form a compact, 2-way design for exceptional speech intelligibility and music reproduction characteristics. This enclosure is rated at 300 watts (program) at 8 ohms. The enclosure includes a pole cup for convenient mounting and incorporates a pair of handles to ensure easy transport.

With the ability to support 500 watts (program) at 8 ohms, the Grund Audio Design STP-5S subwoofer ($799 MSRP when sold individually) uses a horn-loaded 15-inch transducer in a compact enclosure that measures 22.75 by 14 by 26.75-inches (HxWxD), which enables this subwoofer to fit in compact vehicles. With its four casters, the enclosure can easily be moved by one person. Like the STP-8, the STP-5S subwoofer incorporates a pair of handles for easy transport.

Used as a system, the Grund Audio Design STP-8 loudspeaker and STP-5S subwoofer are said to produce frequencies that range from 50 to 18k Hz.

Both the Grund Audio Design STP-8 and STP-5S loudspeaker enclosures are manufactured in the U.S. and feature multi-layer pine wood that is solidly braced for cabinet rigidity. The exteriors of each enclosure are covered with an easy-care, durable black carpet finish.
