ADAM Audio’s A7 ($999 per pair) two-way near-field monitor combines ADAM’s A.R.T. (Accelerated Ribbon Technology) folded ribbon tweeter with a state-of-the-art 6.5-inch carbon fiber woofer, resulting in what ADAM Audio describes as an extremely accurate monitor with clarity, detail and spectacular imaging.
The A7 is powered by two 50-watt amplifiers. Its front panel features a power switch and detented volume knob. The rear panel houses controls for tweeter level and two shelving filters for high and low frequencies. The A7 also provides both balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (RCA) connectors, allowing it to be used in almost any audio application.
The Sub8 ($699) subwoofer is designed to extend the low end of any near-field monitoring system. It houses an 8-inch woofer with a 50mm voice coil and is driven by a 160W ICE power amp. The front baffle features two motorized knobs that allow the end user to tailor input level and crossover frequency settings. These knobs can be controlled with an included wireless remote control. The unit also provides an onboard 2.1 bass management system.
