125th AES Convention Special Event Committee Chair, Chandra Lynn

“Distinguishing ‘Special Events’ from traditional AES Convention activities is like splitting hairs,” remarks 125th AES Convention Co-Chair Valerie Tyler. “Every element of the program is selected for its relevance and appeal. That being said, our Special Event Committee Chair, Chandra Lynn (pictured), and Vice-Chair Larry The O have developed an exceptional series for our attendees.”
Chandra Lynn is founder and principal of Glow Marketing, a leading entertainment industry consulting firm. Lynn’s industry credentials provided her with access to a world-class cadre of keynote speaker options. To take full advantage of this wealth of candidates, the program has been expanded to include daily lunchtime keynote events.
Special Events will include the opening ceremony keynote address on Thursday, October 2, at 1 p.m., titled "The Artist Owns the Industry," in which Record Plant co-founder Chris Stone will explore music industry trends and opportunities, and what it takes to succeed in today's environment. On Friday, October 3, from 1-2 p.m., David Giovannoni of First Sounds will present the Lunchtime Keynote address, titled "The World's First Audio Recordings: Their Recovery and Restoration. On Saturday, October 4, from 1-2 p.m., Peter Gotcher of Topspin Media will present "The Music Business Is Dead—Long Live the New Music Business," a high-level view of the changing business models in today’s music industry.
On Saturday, October 4, from 8-9 p.m., Graham Blyth will present an organ recital at St. Mary's Cathedral in San Francisco (1111 Gough Street). On Sunday, October 5, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., Electronic Musician editor Gino Robair will moderate a panel titled "The Evolution of Electronic Instrument Interfaces: Past, Present and Future." Panelists will include Don Buchla, Roger Linn, Tom Oberheim and Dave Smith.
“The special events committee worked hard to pull together a stellar lineup of keynotes this year,” says Lynn. “I’d like to thank them, and especially my vice-chair, Larry The O, for their hard work and volunteer effort. The keynote participants are first-class and I have no doubt that they will deliver impactful presentations to the AES attendees.”
