The AES Nashville Section has developed a two-day C2 (Capturing Creativity) conference and gear expo focused on personal production spaces. With virtually all the fundamental elements of traditional recording, mixing and mastering studios now available with the click of a mouse, the production and post-production processes have been thoroughly "democratized," and C2 Con gives the broadened recording community access to the experience and knowledge of the AES.
Scheduled for April 18 and 19 at the Musician’s Hall of Fame and Museum, C2Con will provide real-world insights into technology and techniques that can help attendees achieve professional results, even on shoestring budgets.
“Whether you are a musician recording a performance, a songwriter laying down demos or a professional engineer creating your own production space, C2 Con will provide insights and essential information geared to boost your career,” said Nashville Section chair Michael Modesto. “In addition to exhibits and product demos from leading manufacturers, workshops, and roundtable discussions, C2 Con will provide attendees with an outstanding networking opportunity. Essentially, we’re introducing a mini-AES Convention.”
C2 Con participants will include leading producer/engineers Jeff Balding, Chuck Ainlay, Russ Long, Pat McMakin and Bil VornDick, and Lynn Fuston of 3D Audio. Other high-profile participants will be announced.
Subjects planned for the two-day event include personal production spaces; capturing voice and acoustic instruments; small-room acoustics; building rhythms with beats and loops; dissecting a great mix; creating a head-turning demo; advice from the pros; and peer advice, including a singer-songwriter roundtable.
Early registration is open through April 4 and is $149 for AES members, $199 for non-members, $59 for non-member students and $39 for student members.
