On Saturday, September 8, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences awarded the 2006-2007 Creative Arts Primetime Emmys for programs and individual achievements at the 59th Emmy Awards presentation at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Awards were presented in the Sound Mixing and Sound Editing categories.
In the "Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series (One Hour)" category, the winners were Mick Fowler, Production Mixer; Yuri Reese, Re-Recording Mixer (Ascent Media Group); and Bill Smith, Re-Recording Mixer (Ascent Media Group) for the "Living Doll" episode of the CBS series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
The winners in the "Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Miniseries or a Movie" category were George Tarrant, Production Mixer; Rick Ash, Re-Recording Mixer (Warner Bros. Post-Production Services); and Edward C. Carr III, Re-Recording Mixer (Warner Bros. Post-Production Services) for HBO's Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee.
For "Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series (Half Hour) and Animation" category, the winners were Steve Morantz, C.A.S., Production Mixer; Dennis Kirk, Re-Recording Mixer (Ascent Media Group); and Mark Fleming, Re- Recording Mixer (Ascent Media Group) for the episode titled "One day in the Valley" in HBO's Entourage series. For the episode "My Musical" in NBC's Scrubs series, the winners were Joe Foglia, Production Mixer; John W. Cook II, Re-Recording Mixer; and Peter J. Nusbaum, Re-Recording Mixer.

NBC's Tony Bennett: An American Classic won the "Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Variety or Music Series or Special" category. The award went to Dae Bennett, Recording and Mix Engineer; Sue Pelino, Re-Recording Mixer; and Christopher Koch, Additional Audio Post Mixer.
The award for "Outstanding Sound Mixing for Nonfiction Programming (Single or Multi-Camera) went to Ed Campbell, Re-Recording Mixer, for PBS' American Masters "Atlantic Records: The House That Ahmet Built."
The Fox series 24 claimed "Outstanding Sound Editing for a Series" for the episode "10:00 PM–11:00 PM." The award was presented to William Dotson, Supervising Sound Editor; Catherine Speakman, Supervising ADR Editor; Jeffrey R. Whitcher, Sound Effects Editor; Pembrooke Andrews, Sound Editor; Shawn Kennelly, Sound Editor; Rick Polanco, Sound Editor; Vic Radulich, M.P.S.E., Sound Editor; Jeffrey Charbonneau, Music Editor; Laura Macias, Foley Artist; and Vince Nicastro, Foley Artist.
Kate Hopkins, Sound Editor, won "Outstanding Sound Editing for Nonfiction Programming (Single or Multi-Camera) for the episode "Pole to Pole" in Discovery Channel's Planet Earth series.
Lastly, HBO's Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee won for "Outstanding Sound Editing for a Miniseries, Movie or a Special." The honorees were Stephen Flick, Supervising Sound Editor; Avram Gold, Supervising Sound Editor; Steffan Falesitch, Dialog Editor; Eric Hertsgaard, Dialog Editor; Patricio Libenson, Dialog Editor; Denise Horta, Dialog Editor; Adam Johnston, Sound Effects Editor; Paul Berolzheimer, M.P.S.E., Sound Effects Editor; Dean Beville, Sound Effects Editor; Jeff Sawyer, Sound Effects Editor; Kenneth Young, Sound Effects Editor; Mike Flicker, Music Editor; David Lee Fein, Foley Artist (Warner Bros. Post-Production Services); and Hilda Hodges, Foley Artist.
