Heil Sound in Fairview Heights, Ill. and TransAudio Group in Las Vegas each announced the immediate termination of their worldwide distribution agreement. TransAudio Group states that it cancelled all outstanding orders for Heil Sound products as of Thursday, March 27, 2008. Heil Sound announced that it has assumed all of its own worldwide sales distribution efforts.
In a statement, TransAudio Group declared that the distribution agreement "was terminated due to contractual infractions," and stated that "Heil Sound products will not be shown in the TransAudio Group NAB booths #N7039 (TransAudio Group) and #N7037 (Soundfield)."
In the announcement from Heil Sound, the company says "the announcement comes after the company’s distributor sent a letter to dealers telling them that they were resigning the Heil Sound line," and that "all further inquires should go to directly to Heil Sound." Heil Sound president Bob Heil stated: “The decision to handle our own distribution had already been made on our end, and we have been assembling a sales team, which will consist of a national sales manager and independent reps. Anyone who has seen me at a trade show, or at a concert or giving a talk to dealers, knows that I enjoy the direct contact and dialog with customers. After all, it is my name on the products. By eliminating the U.S. distributor ‘layer,’ we are better able to provide the marketplace with new and exciting microphone products.”
