Social media network imeem announces "Mutiny and Mayhem," a nationwide search for two talented acts to perform at the second annual Treasure Island Music Festival in San Francisco. Through the contest, which is open to both signed and unsigned artists and ends July 28, imeem will select a band to open the festival's Tunnel Stage on each day of the festival, which takes place on Saturday, September 20 and Sunday, September 21.
The act selected for Saturday's opening slot will join electronic, dance and hip-hop acts including Justice, TV On the Radio, Goldfrapp, Hot Chip, Aesop Rock, Amon Tobin and Foals, among others. The act selected to play Sunday's opening slot will kick off a stellar lineup of indie rock artists that includes The Raconteurs, Tegan & Sara, Vampire Weekend, Spiritualized, John Vanderslice, and more.
The deadline for submissions is 11:59 p.m. PDT on Monday, July 28. On Friday, August 1, imeem's music industry panel will announce 20 finalists (10 finalists per day) and then open voting to imeem’s community. Fans, friends, family and strangers can listen to, comment on, and rate your music. The judges will take into account crowd favorites.
On Monday, August 18, imeem will announce the two bands selected to open this year’s festival.
Acts must be registered with imeem to enter and must submit performances for consideration via the official Treasure Island Music Festival imeem page at www.imeem.com/treasureislandfestival. The page includes a full list of official rules governing the Mutiny and Mayhem competition.
