Composer/sound designer Andy Newell and his company, ripe sound, moved their base of operations in San Rafael, Calif. to the Fantasy Records/Saul Zaentz Film Center Building in Berkeley. Ripe will continue to operate its existing satellite location in Petaluma, and will offer editorial finishing under a cooperative agreement with One Union Recording in San Francisco.

Ripe’s new Berkeley facilities include a fully equipped Pro Tools TDM design studio and editing suite. In addition, clients have access to Fantasy Records’ and the Saul Zaentz Film Center’s studios, mix and foley rooms. Newell is presently using the facilities for an animated feature directed by Steve “Spaz” Williams, on which he serves as supervising sound editor and sound designer.

Newell and his company have created music and sound design on national campaigns such as Yahoo!, Sharp, Taco Bell, Got Milk and Budweiser. Newell also contributed music and sound design recently to Electronic Arts’ latest game release, “Ultima Online/Samurai Empire,” and Atari/Stormfront’s “Demon Stone.”
