Gloria Estefan uses a Sennheiser Evolution 865 wired mic for her contribution to NBC's Tsunami Relief Special

James Stoffo, of Florida-based Professional Wireless Systems, donated his time and an all-Sennheiser RF mic and personal monitor system for Miami-based performers for Tsunami Aid: A Concert of Hope, which raised over $18 million for American Red Cross relief efforts in southeast Asia.

Broadcast on the NBC Universal networks, comprising NBC, CNBC, MSNBC, USA, Bravo, Telemundo, PAX TV, Trio and the Sci-Fi Channel, the two-hour, commercial-free show was broadcast from New York, Los Angeles and Miami.

“I [used] the Neumann KK105 elements for all the artists on SKM5000 handhelds, and I had my EM1046 receiver rack,” says Stoffo. “Naturally I was using the Sennheiser EW300-G2 personal monitors as IFB systems for the hosts. And I also had the same G2s for the artists."

Locally based artists performing at Miami's Telemundo station included Lenny Kravitz, playing "Let Love Rule." In New York, Madonna used a Sennheiser SKM 5000 wireless, with Norah Jones and her backup group and Annie Lennox on Neumann KMS105s. Gloria Estefam used a Sennheiser Evolution 865, while Sarah McLachlan went with the Neumann KM150. Other performers included Stevie Wonder, Nelly, Usher, former Beach Boy Brian Wilson, John Mayer, Diana Ross and a host of others. Pre-taped musical segments from the U.K. included Elton John plus Roger Waters (Pink Floyd) and Eric Clapton.
