N.A.S.A. (North America South America) and Indaba Music, the leading destination for online music creation, teamed up to launch a star-studded remix contest for artists and fans alike to collaborate with N.A.S.A. and guest stars from their debut album, The Spirit Of Apollo. Participants will remix and mash-up tracks from Kanye West, M.I.A., David Byrne, Tom Waits, Santigold, George Clinton and DJ AM, among others, to create an entirely new N.A.S.A.-inspired song. The winner will be featured on N.A.S.A.’s forthcoming remix album and will receive $1,000.

Click here to enter the contest. Submissions will be accepted until October 23. Indaba Music will announce the winner on October 31.

N.A.S.A. is an international collaboration between music aficionados Squeak E. Clean and DJ Zegon, along with their friends, family, and musical heroes. The Spirit of Apollo combines the sounds of Brazilian funk with soul, reggae, indie rock, old school hip-hop and more. Squeak E. Clean, from New York City, and DJ Zegon, from Brazil, have gathered an illustrious group of musicians to realize their vision. By teaming up with Indaba, the duo is including the entire world. “The N.A.S.A. contest embodies what Indaba Music is all about: breaking down barriers to enable collaboration,” says Indaba Music co-CEO, Dan Zaccagnino.

To further raise awareness of this remix contest, Indaba Music has launched a detailed tutorial on its blog to inform its community on how and when to use Twitter to connect with fans, friends and family throughout the creative process of participating in the N.A.S.A. remix contest, as well as to monitor the impact and spread of their tweets using bit.ly. The Tweet must use the hashtag #IndabaNasaRmx and must contain either a link to the remix contest at www.indabamusic.com/nasaremix, or to a specific contest entry.

The Twitter campaign will end on October 22, at which point Indaba will select one Twitter user at random who tweeted with the hashtag #IndabaNasaRmx and award that user $500. However, for each day through October 22 that #IndabaNasaRmx is a top trending topic on Twitter, Indaba Music will add $500 to the pot, all the way up to $2,500.
