LaCie, a leading provider of professional storage solutions, together with Pro Sound Effects, provider of professional sound effects libraries and solutions, announce a strategic partnership. This partnership combines database sound files with hard drive technology and search software, offering five BBC Sound Effects Libraries on the LaCie d2 Quadra and the LaCie Rikiki desktop and mobile storage devices.

The largest of the libraries, created by Pro Sound Effects, leverages the BBC's original 2,400 sound effects, while including an additional 30,000 commercial sound effects that were previously unavailable. The entire library of 32,400 sounds effects can be purchased in one complete collection on a LaCie’s 1TB d2 Quadra. The d2 Quadra was developed for full compatibility, including four interfaces—eSATA 3Gb/s, FireWire 800, FireWire 400 and USB 2—for PC and Mac workstations. Additionally, the d2 Quadra features a fanless design.

The smaller sound collections can be purchased on LaCie’s Rikiki, a compact high-capacity hard drive that is enclosed in brushed aluminum and fits in a pocket.

“For professionals dealing with A/V production, having a streamlined workflow is critical,” says Laurent Hemmerle, LaCie's VP of sales for the Eastern U.S. “Working with Pro Sound Effects, we were enable the transition from a one-dimensional distribution platform to a digital solution, offering a stronger and faster application for accessing and working with sound effects.”

“To distribute these sound effects libraries, we needed a versatile and reliable hard drive partner,” says Douglas Price, president of Pro Sound Effects. “We chose to partner with LaCie because of their reputation for offering professional full-featured and reliable storage solutions, as well as industry-leading customer service—a benefit we always extend to our customers.”
