At the 126th AES Convention in Europe, Metric Halo is introducing its ULN-8 ($5,995) audio processing converter and interface. The ULN-8 features archival-grade converters, enhanced digitally controlled ULN (ultra low-noise, high-headroom) preamps, dedicated analog-domain sends and returns, analog domain 7.1 monitor controller, AES interfacing, and front panel control with front panel metering built atop Metric Halo's fifth generation 2d Processing, mixing and FireWire interfacing platform.
The rackmountable ULN-8 includes eight channels of archival quality, zero-phase distortion DC-coupled, calibrated 192kHz A/D conversion and 10 channels of archival quality, zero-phase distortion DC-coupled, calibrated 192kHz D/A conversion. It offers eight channels of Metric Halo digitally remote-controlled, high-headroom ULN-R preamps (-130dBu EIN); two channels of hi-Z direct input for instruments; a 192kHz AES interface with eight inputs and eight outputs; a tactile control surface on the front panel for stand-alone and connected operation; switchable mic/line inputs; eight channels of analog domain send (for analog S/R before conversion and analog preamp output); Metric Halo's exclusive per-channel selectable Character; word clock in and out; digitally-controlled analog domain monitor control; 15-segment precision metering; SMPTE I/O channels; MIDI I/O for direct connect of Mackie control protocol control surface; integrated mixing and deep instantiable DSP processing (includes full +DSP license); fifth-generation Mac OS software and drivers; and FireWire interfacing with stable, low-latency drivers supporting FW400 and FW800.
