Plug-ins are in use almost every day in any music production. What's your go-to plug-in? What's the oddest use you've put a plug-in into effect? E-mail the staff at mixeditorial@mixonline.com.
During the month of October, Meyer Sound in Berkeley, Calif., will present four free hour-long online seminars for mix engineers who work in live sound production. "The Mixing Workshop: Session 1, Mixing on Equal Amplitude" will be offered on Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at 7 a.m. Pacific Time and again at 9 a.m. Pacific Time. "The Mixing Workshop: Session 2, Subs on an Aux," will be presented on Tuesday, October 18, 2011, at 7 a.m. Pacific Time and again at 9 a.m. Pacific Time.
In both Sessions 1 and 2, instructor Buford Jones will focus on the role of the mix engineer in live audio production, giving attendees the benefit of his vast experience working with artists from numerous genres. Jones will address mixing tools and techniques, system tuning, mixing in concert halls, record producer involvement, surround mixing, and mixing in isolation. Jones will also address issues of communication and trust between the artist and the mix engineer, and the politics involved in any production, from large-scale tours, to corporate events and house of worship productions.
Register for "The Mixing Workshop: Session 2, Subs on an Aux" on October 18 at 7 a.m. Pacific.
