Avid Announces Master Joystick Module for Pro Tools | S6

New Module Offers Control for Surround Sound Mixing, Automated Touch-Sensitive Joystick Panning Control for Pro Tools | S6 Console

At NAB 2015 in Booth #SU902, Avid introduced the Pro Tools  | S6 Master Joystick Module, an option for both M10- and M40-based S6 systems that offers hands-on control over surround sound mixes. The new joystick module enables mixing engineers who work on the Pro Tools | S6 console to position sounds anywhere within a room without looking down from the big screen. Mixers can grab both joysticks with one hand to control a pair of sounds together, while the other hand is free to control other elements, such as the LFE level. The module can also be used to control any other set of knob parameters on S6 to create a wide range of effects.

The Pro Tools | S6 Master Joystick Module features dual non-motorized, touch-sensitive joysticks for surround sound mixing with Pro Tools | S6. The module includes a 3.2-inch TFT display that displays current pan and joystick locations. The module also includes  Strip Control and Knob Cell sections for each Joystick that are similar to those used on the Pro Tools | S6 Knob- and Process-Modules. These feature two multicolor LED top-lit encoders, four OLED displays for detailed visual feedback and panning control switches for controlling LFE, divergence, and more with precision. Plus, 16 panning mode switches with color LEDs further enhance panning workflows.

Pro Tools | S6 is a modular, flexible and expandable audio control surface, offering superior ergonomics and intelligent studio control through the EUCON protocol for an intuitive, immersive mixing experience. With a first-of-its-kind modular design, customers can customize the surface with the modules they need to match their current workflow for the greatest cost efficiency.

The Pro Tools | S6 Master Joystick Module will be available in Fall 2015.
