Based on a dream that started a decade ago, and following four years of planning and building, Noble Street Studios, owned by music industry veteran Henry Gooderham, is now open for business in downtown Toronto's vibrant and creative Parkdale neighborhood. Located just steps from Queen Street West, which offers fine dining and shopping, Noble Street Studios is an 8,000-square-foot, purpose built, state-of-the-art recording facility.

Gooderham says he knows that every major city in the world with a significant music scene has at least one internationally recognized recording studio in its city center, so he took on the task of creating a studio built around the idea of attracting international business, benefiting and strengthening Toronto’s incredibly talented pool of musicians, composers, engineers, and producers. Noble Street also offers a massive live floor with drop down screen, HD projector, and mix to picture 5.1 surround system for the film and television sectors.

Athos Zaghi (AZA and Theatre Consultants Collaborative, LLC), and Robert Kastelic (AKB Inc.) designed Noble Street Studios, while Terry Medwedyk of Group One Acoustics engineered the acoustic spaces. The 8,000-square-foot building offers several “wild” spaces in which artists can explore a variety of acoustics. The studio also features a private courtyard/parking lot with a remote controlled security gate, and is big enough to accommodate a tour bus.

The Studio A control room is designed with direct sight lines from the iso booth to the control room and live floor

Studio A features a 1,200-square-foot live floor with 19-foot ceilings, floating on an 8-inch concrete pad and 430 specially engineered springs. This studio is designed with direct sight lines from the iso booth to the control room and live floor. The Studio A live floor hosts a 7-foot Fazioli grand piano, handpicked by Paolo Fazioli. The 460-square-foot control room features a vintage SSL 4056 E/G analog console with a G Series center section that has E Series Black EQs. Monitoring in Studio A includes PMC MB2-XBDs and the AML-2 surround system.

The Studio A lounge is a 700-square-foot space equipped with a private washroom with shower, a kitchen, seating for up to 24 people, and a 65-inch HDTV.

Studio B features a smaller but spacious control room, with a SSL 900 SE+ 24-channel analog console/DAW controller and four floating rack bays filled with top-of-the-line analog and digital gear. It also features a unique 350-square foot “live lounge."
