The Ontario Institute of Audio Recording Technology (OIART) in London, Ontario, has hired Dan Brodbeck (pictured) as a full-time Music Production and Pro Tools instructor. Brodbeck brings more than 20 years of experience as a record producer, engineer, mixer, songwriter and studio owner to the position.

Brodbeck was previously a member of the part-time faculty at Fanshawe College’s Music Industry Arts (MIA) program, where he taught production and was the first (and only) instructor to be honored with the college's newly created 2008-2009 President’s Distinguished Award for Part-Time Teaching.

“It's been over 20 years since I graduated from OIART, and one thing that has never changed is the personal attention to each student," Brodbeck says. "I have spent the last 20-plus years making records with that same attention to detail and it's exciting to be a part of a faculty that will allow me to apply those same values to teaching.”

Brodbeck recently visited Harmonix Music in Cambridge, Mass., to learn production for the Rock Band videogame series. "I went there to learn how to author songs for the upcoming Rock Band Network," he says. "Now I can pass on that knowledge to our students. They can add that to the list of things they can offer their clients."
