On Monday, June 28, President Obama issued a Presidential Memorandum titled "Unleashing the Wireless Broadband Revolution."

In response to this memorandum, Sennheiser's Director of Market Development & Education, Joe Ciaudelli, offers the following clarification:

"President Obama issued a memorandum calling for the reallocation of 500 MHz of spectrum. I have received many calls and e-mails with questions about what this means to wireless microphone users. First, it is important to understand this is not an executive order. It is merely a show of support for the National Broadband Plan that the FCC submitted to Congress back in March. Not surprising since the President appointed the FCC chairman.

"The plan the FCC submitted contains proposals, and does not represent a change in current regulations.

"The majority of the 500 MHz sought is outside the TV band frequencies used by wireless mics. Therefore, if reallocated, would have no effect on our customers.

"The plan does seek 120 MHz of spectrum from TV broadcast license holders, obtained on a voluntary basis in exchange for sharing in any auction proceeds. Nevertheless, the broadcast industry opposes the plan and is lobbying against it.

"There are a number of steps that will take place, and each step will be met with much scrutiny and debate before any of the plan's recommendations are enacted. We will keep you posted on any developments.

"Bottom line, you can continue to rely on your wireless mics."
