Shure Incorporated in Niles, Ill., introduces the Beta 181 ($624 MSRP) side-address condenser microphone, as well as additions to its Beta microphone line. The compact Beta 181 is designed for discreet placement and control in live and studio environments. It features interchangeable polar pattern capsules—cardioid, supercardioid, omnidirectional and bidirectional— for versatility in constantly changing performance environments.

Shure offers the Beta 181 in four variations: Beta 181/C (cardioid), Beta 181/S (supercardioid), Beta 181/O (omnidirectional) and Beta 181/BI (bidirectional). The Beta 181 preamplifier will also be available alone for $311 MSRP.

Shure states that the new Beta 181 will ship will ship on November 15 carrying a two-year limited warranty, and come with a stand adapter, wind screen and carrying case for up to four polar pattern capsules.
