Shure is introducing a Special Edition Super 55 microphone ($354 MSRP/$299 retail) tailored for vocals and speech, and featuring a vintage design, high output (with a Neodymium magnet and output transformer for increased sensitivity) and rugged die-cast chrome casing, along with a new red-and-black color scheme. The Special Edition Super 55 incorporates modern technology while paying tribute to the original Shure Unidyne, the first single-element unidirectional microphone, which Shure introduced in 1939.

The Special Edition Super 55 offers a supercardioid polar pattern for high gain before feedback and excellent off-axis rejection. A shock-mounted cartridge is said to minimize handling noise or stage noise and ensure quiet operation. It includes an integrated, swivel stand mount base and microphone bag.

The Shure Special Edition Super 55 carries a two-year limited warranty and can be purchased only at Guitar Center. For a complete list of store locations, go to
