SM Pro Audio announces its M-Patch 4M monitor controller ($449.99 MAP), which combines precision attenuation and advanced audio source/destination switching with talkback capabilities. The company states that this is a first for the MPatch product group.

The M-Patch 4M provides a central hub for monitor control with mute, mixing, level matching, headphone monitoring, stereo-to-mono summing, and talkback. When talkback is engaged, control room outputs are automatically ducked by 20 dB. The unit has a built-in microphone; optionally, it supports other microphones, which users can control from the front panel or via a remote switch.

Like SM Pro Audio's MPatch 2.1 and MPatch 5.1, the M-Patch 4M’s master attenuator features a custom-engineered discrete stepped film-resistor network that is designed for exceptional accuracy at all volume levels. The M-Patch 4M offers both balanced and unbalanced inputs and outputs, including XLR, ¼-inch and 1/8-inch TRS, and RCA. It can be used as either a desktop unit, or rack-mounted with the included hardware.
