At Musikmesse/Prolight + Sound 2013 (Hall 5.1, Stand B.73), Solid State Logic announced the launch of its "Live" digital console, the first SSL console for live sound production. Live brings SSL’s approach to audio quality and console ergonomics to sound for the stage. Live is due to ship in September 2013 for $84,000 to $130,000, depending upon the configuration.

SSL Live is suited to touring or installation, front of house or monitors in venues and arenas, houses of worship and concert halls.

Based on SSL’s new Tempest processing platform, Live offers 976 inputs and outputs, and 192 full processing audio "paths" at 96 kHz. How those "paths" are configured is extremely flexible with power allocated to Channels, Auxes, Stem Groups and Masters configured to suit the needs of each show.

All processing is built into the console surface. It has a collection of I/O connectivity built into the frame. A full range of Stagebox I/O connects to the console via MADI with the potential for larger systems to make use of SSL’s own Blacklight technology, which carries up to 256 channels of bi-directional audio and control via a single fiber connection.

Live's control surface combines multiple tablet style multi-gesture touchscreens with elegant hardware ergonomics, excellent visual feedback and a collection of innovative new features. It enables engineers to work exactly how they work today, whether they prefer new touchscreen or classic hardware technology, or both.

SSL Live further offers studio grade SuperAnalogue mic preamps, 24-bit/96kHz AD/DA conversion, 64-bit internal processing, and 96kHz operation throughout. Live features 30 new Effects and audio analysis tools, which have their own dedicated processing power.
