Leslie Ann Jones, president of the board of directors of the Society of Professional Audio Recording Services (SPARS), recently announced the appointment of Paul A. Christensen (pictured) as Executive Director of the association.

SPARS is a non-profit trade organization representing professionals in the recording industry. The 30-year-old organization is dedicated to providing networking, education and community to its members and the industry as a whole.

SPARS recruited Christensen to head a new program to expand its mission to better serve members of the recording community, facility owners, producers and engineers. From 1989 through 2000, Christensen served as a director of SPARS in various capacities, including president from 1997-1999, SPARS' 20th anniversary. Christensen is president of Omega Productions (www.omegalive.com), an award winning entertainment production company for 36 years that specializes in live concert DVD, HD and CD recordings.

In addition, SPARS has updated and expanded its Website to encourage networking, community and education, as well as freelance opportunities. Future plans call for live and on-demand Webinars on pertinent subjects provided by industry leaders, as well as various Web 2.0 initiatives.
