At this week's 129th AES Convention in San Francisco's Moscone Center, from November 5-7, Solid State Logic will present its new Nucleus DAW controller and SuperAnalogue Audio Hub ($4,999 MSRP)—which the company is marketing for professional-level project studios—in booth #902. Nucleus is a compact desktop unit that is designed to streamline workflow.

Nucleus features HUI and MCU control; is compatible with Pro Tools, Logic, Cubase, Nuendo and other DAW applications; and lets users switch between three connected DAWs with a single button press. Nucleus also offers two banks of 8-channel controls plus center section controls; touch-sensitive 100mm motorized faders; digital Scribble Strips with assignable V-Pots and soft keys; customizable DAW and Key Command mapping; transport buttons and jog/shuttle wheel; ¼-inch jack footswitch connection; visual feedback via self-illuminating buttons, LEDs and DAW level metering; remote Logictivity Browser for configuration; SD card for nonvolatile project storage; and four USB sockets for use as a 4-port USB hub.

Nucleus also offers Benchmark SuperAnalogue quality output to separate +4dBu and -10dBV connections; a USB audio interface stereo record and playback path; two XLR mic/line/instrument level inputs; digital S/PDIF I/O; zero-latency Record monitoring with wet/dry control to balance input and DAW playback; SSL SuperAnalogue mic pre’s; mic inputs with 80Hz highpass filters, phase reverse and phantom power; insert send/return connections switched between inputs and DAW playback for mixdown; an additional "external" SuperAnalogue input monitor path for another audio interface; and two headphone outputs and one iJack monitor input.

Nucleus includes SSL's Duende Native Essentials Bundle of VST/AU/RTAS plug-ins: the SSL Channel EQ & Dynamics plug-in and the Stereo Bus Compressor plug-in.
