NewBay Media's Music Player Network and Pro Audio Group have teamed with AES Nashville to help Nashville-area recordists and musicians with the opportunity to learn from Nashville area audio professionals at Summer NAMM's WANNA PLAY MUSIC DAY, July 23, 2011, at the Nashville Convention Center. The final line-ups for the WANNA PLAY MUSIC DAY pro audio sessions, developed with the Nashville AES section are:

"Mixing in the Box"
ROOM: 208
TIME SLOT: 10:30 am – 11:30 am
Russ Long, senior contributor to Pro Audio Review whose credits include Sixpence None the Richer, Wilco, Steven Curtis Chapman, Allison Moorer, Swtichfoot and contributions to numerous film soundtracks, will present an active demonstration of the dominant emerging paradigm for music production—mixing in the box—working near totally inside of a digital audio workstation.

Vocal Miking
ROOM: 207
TIME SLOT: 11 am – 12 noon
PRESENTERS: Bob Olhsson, Larry Sheridan, Michael Fleming and Jaime Babbitt with guest vocalist Leslie Ellis
Bob Olhsson is a veteran recording and mastering engineer who cut vocals on countless Motown hits; Sheridan is a producer and publisher from Best Built Songs and The Parlor studio; Michael Fleming is an engineer and educator at MTSU; and Babbit is a studio and live vocalist and author of the Alfred Publishing title Working With Your Voice/i>. The live demonstration will include miking techniques, monitoring, vocal dynamics and avoiding pops and sibilance.

Building the Professional Demo Studio

TIME SLOT: 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm
Moderator: Jim Kaiser, president of AES
PANELISTS: Carl Tatz, Dave Brainard, Robert Venable
Covering the various elements that are involved in creating a personal production space for audio production, this panel includes acoustician/room designer Carl Tatz, songwriter and personal studio owner Dave Brainard and producer/mixer/engineer Robert Venable. Moderator Jim Kaiser has built numerous professional recording facilities and is the current president of the Audio Engineering Society.

Additional WANNA PLAY MUSIC DAY sessions from Eelectronic Musician, Guitar Player, Bass Player and Keyboard magazines will cover a host of topics for musicians and home studio owners.
