Nearly 100 audio professionals came out to play at the 15th Annual TEC LA Open Golf Tournament, held on May 17 at the Malibu Country Club, Presented by the TEC Foundation for Excellence in Audio, the ever-popular charity event was sponsored by Guitar Center Professional and Shure. Though the weather was cool with some sprinkles thrown in, it was a fun day for all on a challenging course, with numerous contests and extra attractions to entertain the golfers.

The tournament's proceeds support the House Ear Institute’s hearing health outreach services for audio professionals and the TEC Foundation’s TECnology Hall of Fame, recognizing the most historically significant audio innovations and inventors, held annually at the AES Convention.

Honorary Chairman and famed engineer Al Schmitt presided over the tournament. At the awards dinner, Master of Ceremonies and fellow studio veteran Ed Cherney joined Schmitt onstage. Additional sponsors included Focusrite Novation, Iron Mountain Film & Sound, Ocean Way, Record Plant, PMI Audio and the Producers & Engineers Wing of the Recording Academy.

Contest winners included Jeremy Umland (Longest Drive), Dave Reitzas (Closest to the Pin), and Ed Cherney (Longest Putt). Paul Camarata won the putting contest. The day concluded with a dinner and awards presentation, along with a raffle and silent auction.

Auction items were donated by: American Music and Sound, Antares, Apogee Electronics, Artesa Vineyards & Winery, Audio-Technica, Avid, Earthworks, Lobster.com, Ozumo, Sennheiser, Shure, Sonoma Wine Garden, Taylor Guitars, Shure, and Universal Audio, among others.
