Independent post-production sound company CSS Studios announces that Re-recording Mixer Mike Prestwood Smith will join the company’s Todd-AO facility in Santa Monica, Calif. A BAFTA winner for his work on Casino Royale, Prestwood Smith has mixed high-profile projects in the UK in recent years, including multiple installments in the James Bond and Harry Potter franchises.

“It gives me great pleasure to be able to bring a talent of Mike’s caliber to the U.S. market,” says Robert C. Rosenthal, President of CSS Studios. “It is incredibly gratifying for our company to be able to continue to attract some of the very finest creative talents working anywhere in the world.”

“I am delighted to be joining the CSS Studios group of companies and I very much look forward to working at Todd-AO West,” says Prestwood Smith. “I hope to be able to contribute to its long legacy and worldwide reputation for film sound mixing. Having worked in London for many years, I am looking forward to the challenges and opportunities in Los Angeles—as well as the sunshine.”

“Although Mike has been working primarily in the UK, we already enjoy an excellent working relationship," adds Jeffrey Eisner, Senior Vice President of Film and Television Business Development, CSS Studios, "as our sound editorial teams and mixers have collaborated with Mike on several projects in the past few years—including Nine, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, Quantum of Solace, and United 93. Bringing people like Mike Prestwood Smith to Todd-AO is a crucial element of our mission to remain the destination of choice for filmmakers.”

Prestwood Smith is in the process of relocating to the Los Angeles area and will be based on Stage 7 at Todd-AO West.
