Three sound mixing teams from Universal Studios Sound in Universal City, Calif., have received Emmy nominations for their work on The Office, Scrubs, House, 24, and Battlestar Galactica.

Universal Studios Sound is a division of NBC Universal, one of the world’s leading media and entertainment companies in the development, production, and marketing of entertainment, news, and information to a global audience. Formed in May 2004 by combining NBC and Vivendi Universal Entertainment, NBC Universal owns and operates a valuable portfolio of news and entertainment networks, a premier motion picture company, significant television production operations, a leading television stations group, and world-renowned theme parks. NBC Universal is 80 percent owned by General Electric and 20 percent owned by Vivendi.

John W. Cook II and Peter J. Nusbaum are nominated for two shows in the Comedy or Drama Series (Half-Hour) and Animation category. In the Comedy or Drama Series (One-Hour) category, Michael Olman and Kenneth Kobett are also nominated for two shows. Gerry Lentz and Richard Weingart are nominated for Comedy or Drama Series (One-Hour) for their work on House.

In 2007, Cook and Nusbaum won for sound mixing on the Scrubs episode “My Musical.” In 2004 and 2005, Olman and Kobett won Emmy Awards for sound mixing on 24 and again in 2004 for their work on Dinosaur Planet. Lentz and Weingart were nominated in 2006 for House and in 2007 for Heroes.

The 2009 Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards will be held Saturday, September 12, at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. The show will air as a two-hour special on E! Entertainment Television.
