Yamaha is launching its new 01V96i digital mixing console at the 2011 International Broadcast Equipment Exhibition (InterBEE), an international exhibition held in Japan from November 16 through 18 that showcases broadcast, video, audio, and lighting equipment. The 01V96i builds on the features of its predecessor, the 01V (released in 1998), by adding USB 2 connectivity along with new multitrack recording features and improved sonic quality.

For multitrack recording in live sound applications, the 01V96i features 16-in/16-out USB audio streaming at 96 kHz, as well as multichannel input and output via expansion card or ADAT. The addition of USB 2 provides for high quality multitrack recording and playback, as well as full integration with every major ASIO and Core Audio DAW software, all with just a single connection. The 01V96i also comes bundled with the latest version of Steinberg’s Cubase AI, offering a comprehensive range of tools for recording, editing and mixing, and an intuitive interface.

Yamaha's Virtual Circuitry Modeling (VCM) plug-ins model the actual circuitry of original analog effects units, down to the last resistor and capacitor. The same VCM effects and REV-X reverbs used with Yamaha’s top-of-the-line professional mixers now all come as standard, pre-installed and ready to use to provide warm, high quality analog sound without having to transport delicate outboard gear.

In addition to a sampling rate of 24-bit/96 kHz, the 01V96i features newly improved, studio-quality head amps with high performance onboard 24-bit/96kHz A/D and D/A converters. The 01V96i also shares all the functionality of the 01V, including precision 100mm motor faders, 99 scene memories for instant recall, and fully configurable user defined keys to help users adapt to just about any studio or sound reinforcement environment.
