They brought everything out that they could find, which at the time was a tremendous amount of equipment, but you couldn’t hear the music. There’s a funny story my father told about that show: there was a vocal mic set up on stage for Ringo with a big Atlas boom stand, the kind with a weight on the end of the boom. When the Beatles came out of their armored car and jumped up on stage, Ringo spun his mic out of the way. When he reached back for it to sing, he pulled over the wrong end and sang into the weight all night long. He knew he couldn’t be heard, and didn’t really care, is my guess.
