Doyle Jones was a SugarHill Recording Studios (Houston) engineer from December 1964 (then called Gold Star Studios) to January 1966, and has recorded a string of hits during his recording career, including Sir Douglas Quintet's self-titled album, Roy Head & The Traits' “Treat Her Right,” the Pozo Seco Singers' “Time,” and many others.

After leaving SugarHill/Gold Star, Jones started his own recording studio, Jones Recording, and recorded a number of hit records up to 1973, including tracks for Mickey Gilley, and Archie Bell and The Drells. Between 1973 and early 1974, Jones shut down the studio and converted it to a cassette-duplicating house, which eventually became a notable CD-duplication facility called Jones CD Duplication. Jones' extensive tape library was recently transported to SugarHill for storage.
