Louie Bellson: a legend at Mad Dog

The longtime Duke Ellington Orchestra drummer, Louie Bellson, recorded a 16-bar solo for the New Orleans Congo Square Charity at Mad Dog Studios in Burbank, Calif. The sessions — produced by drummer Fabian Jolivet and engineered by Eric Corne — are part of an ambitious project designed to trace the evolution of the African Bembe clave and its significance in the development of modern jazz.
